When I was younger and full of energy I would actually change the oil in my car to save a few bucks. You know being a college student that money wasn’t exactly flowing and every five or ten bucks made a difference. Now that I’m older it’s very unlikely that I will change the oil in my car by myself. My time is much more valuable than the few bucks. I know I’m not alone, just look at all the oil changing companies on the corner in every city.

A good friend once told me he had a theory on why it seemed time sped up as he got older. His reasoning was that the amount of time left to live was less than amount of time he had to live earlier in his life, in other words the ratio had gone from being greater than half of his life span to less than half of his life span. That can sound kind of depressing if you are in the half where you have less than half.

So with all of these great new tools at our disposal we do have more free time. No longer are we spending time washing dishes by hand. And our cars are an incredible amount of technology all bundled up into something that we can really enjoy. Same goes for motorcycles and RVs. Some people actually like taking care of these possessions but I think most people would rather have somebody else do it for them. Most of us would rather be doing other things besides these types of tasks. So finding a really good mobile detail outfit can be a real plus. Ones that really know what they’re doing bring all of the equipment and cleaning materials with them. They are pretty fancy nowadays because they bring power tools and modern technology to do the buffing and the application of the different waxes and sealants.

I’m sure in my father’s day the thought of having a mobile detailer come to his house and clean his car was about as likely as the sun not rising tomorrow. But the results are far better typically then going to the corner carwash were doing it yourself. These guys do it all day long and have the right equipment so the job always comes out better if they know what they’re doing. Many of them use different kinds of car polish such as Maguire’s. They use carnuba wax and polishing compounds to bring out the best in the paint.

If your car has swirls in the paint from dust being rubbed across the paint surface while cleaning it they can remove it. The way they typically do this is to use different grits of a polishing compound to actually remove part of the paint surface down below the scratch. This only works for very shallow scratches. Anything bigger is going to require more effort and probably the work of adding paint and filler.

Most of the auto detailing companies not only clean and wash cars but they will detail motorcycles, RVs and boats. Some will also provide a fleet service for commercial companies to keep their vehicles looking great. For companies that like to present a very polished image using a mobile auto detailer can be a real benefit. The image of their vehicles can be top notch. It makes sense for a business to use a mobile detailer because they don’t need to hire somebody and keep them busy 40 hours a week to perform this task. Not only that but the mobile detailer only does detailing and he’s much more skilled than the typical employee of a company that has a fleet of vehicles. If the fleet is not very large it’s not cost effective to have a captive employee hired just to keep them clean.

More benefits of using a mobile detailer are that their water is typically treated to be soft. This means that there are not mineral deposits which can leave spots on your car. They can even use solvents to wash the exterior of the car to reduce the use of water. In some areas with a drought condition the use of water is restricted and this can be a real benefit.

So considering this one aspect of our busy lives does it really make sense for us to put the time in to do this chore? Probably not for most of us so take advantage of modern technology and skilled labor such as these for mobile auto detailing. It’s worth the expense.
