This tutorial shows you how to add or remove recently viewed files and programs from Start menu. Follow the steps as shown below:
1) Right click on taskbar and select "Properties" from the menu list as shown in Figure 1
.

2) When "Taskbar and Start Menu Properties" box appears click "Start Menu" Tab as shown in Figure 2.

3) In "Start Menu" under "Privacy" uncheck both
"Store and display a list of recently opened files" and "Store and display a list of recently opened programs"
boxes to remove "Recent items" from start menu as shown in Figure 3.
